The current page gets unloaded when I switch apps, takes long to load again

I've had issues with Firefox for Android for many months now but I got prompted if I have any issues today so I decided to report it. Almost always if I switch to another app, the page in Firefox gets unloaded and becomes blank (transparent even, when looking at the app preview). Then when switching back, if I'm lucky the page begins to load after 5-10 seconds. It makes it hard to browse in general but if I have to switch back and forth that's often impossible because I lose my progress on the page.

Phone: Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro

What I've tried:

  • Changed the battery optimization to not limit the app
  • Locked the app in the recent apps view
  • Had a notification for Firefox (downloaded item, not sure if the problem persisted during a download)

I found a bug report at one point that mentioned the same issue but it didn't get resolved.

Of course now that I report it I can't reproduce it lol. Maybe it got fixed recently? Or am I just lucky?

Hi!

This is a complex problem, so there is no easy single fix. It's tracked as a metabug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1752594

One potential problem could be Xiami's aggressive battery optimization, for that, check out this site: https://dontkillmyapp.com/xiaomi
