I have been using Thunderbird for several years, without a problem. This week I started getting pages of this text when I attempt to reply to a message or compose a new message. See image. Newly received and older email display fine with no errors based upon the font used in the email, etc. The signatures on newly received and older email all display fine.

As that garbage appears to be a Microsoft office document source try removing that signature you just added that you composed in Word or other Microsoft office product. I am guessing you added it as an office document.
