bold text Your Case ID: 101551886546 My icloud accout tim.rookley@icloud.com has stopped working. It does not recognise the password. I have spoken to Apple but they say the problem is with Thunderbird as the login and password work fine on iCloud

I've just discovered that Apple now need a app-specific password for Thunderbird or similar third party programmes. See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204397
Good how you contacted Apple support and they forgot to tell the the relevant part. Another corporate that is just not delivering support.
