Can't log in to one web site consistently

more options

Running Firefox 72.0.1, and this problem has persisted over several FF updates. I cannot consistently log in to one particular web site (a common store site), where I have a password-protected account. I can log in to it easily from MS Edge. Starting FF in Safe Mode does not help or make any difference at all. I've cleared cookies, cache, turned off tracking and ad blocking, etc. It's only this one site.

When I go to the site and enter my username & password, and click "log in," nothing happens at all. Oddly, if I request a reset of my password, the site will work for an hour or so but then I get automatically logged out and the whole thing happens over again. I don't want to keep resetting my FF password every time I want to use the site. Makes no difference if I save it in my FF logins or not. Thank you in advance.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

You obviously didn't read what I wrote. I said I turned off blockers and that starting in Safe Mode did NOTHING.

Try creating a New Profile to see if it's a site issue:

Type (or paste) about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter. You will see at least one Profile which says: Profile: Default User (or default-release) - This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. That is the Profile with all of your data. Just above that, click Create A New Profile. A Profile Wizard will open. Go through the steps naming the Profile anything that you want, except Default User, of course. Below the new profile click Launch Profile In New Browser

In the first window, under Profile: Default User (or default-release), select Set As Default Profile. When you launch Firefox again, it will open your Default Profile. Close that window.

(The New Profile won't interfere with anything or use any resources. You can leave it if you ever want to Test something again, or, you can Remove it later.)

Thank you, RobertJ, creating a new profile seems to work. I'll keep checking that to see if it keeps working or signs me out after a while like the default profile did.

Thanks! Will mark this solved if it's still working in a few days.

I'm glad to hear that it's working , so far. You can brush up on copying your important files between the profiles here: Recovering important data from an old profile https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile#firefox:win10:fx73
