GREETINGS,

I use Thunderbird 31.4 with several email accounts. I would like to temporarily suspend the email checking of several of these accounts without deleting the entire account. I would like to use the "get all new messages" function so I don't have to individually check each account I will still have active. Similar to creating an "inactive" account on an iPhone. Is there a way to do this please?

Hi,

You can right-click on the email account's name, then click "Settings" from the menu. You'll see an option at left as "Server Options" which you can set what you said. Uncheck "Check new messages at start" box, enjoy!

Thanks for the info. but this does not solver my problem. I have the "check new msg block" unchecked already.

I have around 12 email accounts in Thunderbird. I would like to suspend several but still use the "get all message" function to retrieve messages from the other accounts that would still be active. I'm trying to find a way to having to check each active account separately.

I think your not going to get what you want. Thunderbird has no concept of an inactive mail account. the same with check all accounts, as there a no inactive ones there is no selective way to heck them.

Not that I understand why anyone would need to select to check all mail accounts anyway. The download at the frequency you have specified and in the case of IMAP mail, almost all servers support push so your notified immediately new mail is delivered.

Reads like I may have to live with it. Still beats Apple Mail.
