I have previously exported my bookmarks in an HTML file. When reinstalling Firefox, I tried to import them using the HTML backup file. It says that 309 bookmarks have been found, but nothing changes on the bookmarks bar, still showing the "Import bookmarks" bookmark. These are very important bookmarks I would really like to get back, can you help me please ?

I was in the middle of asking this question when I fixed (worked around) the problem so I'm posting more as a informative post as there is a lot of old misdirection out there now.

I am(was) unable to drag any URLs from the URI drop down field in the main interface to my bookmarks toolbar. Nor was any drag and drop functionality working in the "Customise Firefox" screen (right click space on url bar -> Customise Toolbar).

I have now found that resetting my zoom setting in preferences to 100% restores this functionality. The problem arose when I was using 120% zoom, NOT text only.

Suddenly after 20 years of collecting invaluable basic reference works in one of the 20 bookmarks on my Bookmarks Toolbar called REF on my Firefox browser, today I find it simply marked "Empty". No idea why. No other tabs have been altered as far as I can tell. 28 MAY 2024

I've been using custom icons for all of my 36 shotcuts on Firefox start page. Today I opened Firefox and my icons are gone, Firefox slowy created its own ones and now I can't refresh them to bring back my own, despite there are my links pasted into entry. It's really time consuming to bring back old icons one by one, I have to upload each of them again to get new links, because somehow Firefox sees old links being in use and there's no way to refresh preview of them. Please give me faster method to bring back my old setting, I really hate changes so much!

When I use 'Manage Bookmarks' and the Library to delete bookmarks and bookmark folders in addition to cleaning up duplicate bookmarks, the deleted folders and bookmarks automatically reappear in my Bookmark sidebar 1-2 hours later.

Initially, I had sync on but did not have Bookmarks checked for syncing. Deleted bookmarks and folders still reappeared. Then I turned off sync for this browser / machine. Deleted bookmarks and folders still reappeared.

I tried to see if there was a setting that enabled automatic restores of bookmark backups - but could not find one to turn off. I have tried refreshing the installation and starting again - using a one-time sync from another machine - but continue to be unable to permanently delete old / obsolete / duplicate bookmarks and folders.

I've also tried 2 Bookmark clean-up extensions. While I am able to delete duplicates and empty folders using these tools, 1-2 hours later they are back in the Bookmark sidebar.

Is there anyway to prevent the automatic restoration of the Bookmark Library?

I have two problems:

1. After importing bookmarks from html file i can not see them under search bar. only i can see them when clicking on Show your bookmarks /Ctrl+Shift+O/. Bookmark toolbar is checked into Always show Where is the problem?

2. Blank shortcuts of some websites, i tried to fix it with all methods but failed like: Deleting the IconCache.db file then restart windows explorer Command prompt sfc /scannow Command prompt dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth Disable tablet mode and Widgets

I have syned my account to santhuusanthosh51@gmail.com like bookmarks passwords Etc., Today i have formatted laptop and reinstalled laptop and logged in with same same account it shows no data in it like history Bookmarks and password.

please help me to get it back.

Hi, thank you for being there. I have a strange problem that started a while ago. Every time I restart the computer to refresh it, all my bookmarks and log-ins change. It seems as if they are set back to an old version, but I can't even remember ever having a setting like this. A lot of bookmarks folder are gone all together and others only have a few bookmarks left in them. I suddenly have to enter passwords to get into my email accounts. Even stranger, after a while it all goes back to my current setting without me changing anything. This can take days or weeks. All this makes me nervous about restarting my computer. Please understand that I am not a computer wiz, so if you send me complicated instructions on how to fix this, I probably won't understand them. I hope there is a simple explanation for this. I use the firefox browser on two computers and the sync of the bookmarks is enabled. On one of this computers dont work the sync of the bookmarks. I get no errormessage if I press "now sync", but I dont get the bookmarks. Could you help?

As of today 5/20/2024 Firefox stopped saving bookmarks. The star turns blue to indicate the bookmark was saved, but when I check the folder in Bookmarks it's not there.
