thunderbird freezes computer
how can i stop thunderbird from interacting with windows defender anti virus scan? when ever i download or delete emails i get a few seconds of "not responding " and the whole computer is non responsive. i used to be able to turn off real time scan in security and it would work for a day and then windows would enable it again. now since the last upgrade windows isnt allowing me that option any more. solutions?

You need to exclude the Thunderbird profile directory using https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security-811816c0-4dfd-af4a-47e4-c301afe13b26
no. since the last windows upgrade my windows no longer allows me into virus and threat protection. i need another way.

What version of windows are you referring to?
I have windows 11 and have no issues following the instruction in the link, so perhaps you need windows support, not Thunderbird help.
