I lost firefox after updating. It will not open and a pop up window comes up saying "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of firefox. Do you want to reboot."

Nothing happens after reboot, continue to get the same message. If try to uninstall or reinstall firefox get same message and cannot uninstall or reinstall. Any solutions for this problem? This is on a Sony Vaio with windows 7. I3 processor

Try a clean reinstall.

  • Uninstall your current Firefox version.
  • Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
  • Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
  • It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Still does not work because still get message stated on original message when trying to uninstall or install. In looking at properties under Firefox shortcut looks like may have a compatability issue which seems odd since worked originally and nothing changed. Have played with compatability area to no avail. Is there any live chat or live voice support for Firefox?
