Firefox resets my setting of how to handle a pdf

Hey, I have set firefox to open "Portable Document Format (PDF)"-files externally with adobe reader. This normally works fine but every few weeks this setting (and only this) swiches back to "save file". It's no big deal but actually quite annoying: I've spend a year or so now to do this setting again and again, also on my friends computer were it it also happening. Any idea why this is happening? I suspect I could be after some update... Any way to hardcode my settings? Tanks!
