My profile constantly shows as infected with such crap as duck-duck-go, when I have never signed for, nor am I even sure what the stuff is. I try deleting the JSON files that show as infected, but they instantly recreate themselves and contain the same spyware and other crap that I tried to get rid of. It seems Firefox has consistently become harder to control - it used to be simple and straightforward. Now, in order to clear cookies for instance, I have to burrow three layers in. I can't clean out my own profile files. It seems to be becoming more and more like the browsers it was created to replace. Sad. I'm running XP and the latest version of Firefox at all times. SpyHunter detects the spy ware in the profile and used to delete it when I was willing to pay their exhorbatent semi-annual ransom. I also have Super Antispyware free addition, which does not detect the same things, but neither seems to protect from reinfection, and manual removal - even deleting or correcting and then saving the json files does not work.

duck-duck-go is a default search engine that comes with Firefox. DDG is far from being "malware", it is secure and it respects user privacy, more so than any other search engine out there. https://duckduckgo.com/privacy More settings that are easier to access than any other search engine that I have ever used. https://duckduckgo.com/settings

As far as your assertion about being "infected", please provide a screenshot of that report or notification.

See this support article. How do I create a screenshot of my problem? It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

Overall as far as Malware / Spyware troubleshooting goes, support information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
