I have a Brother all in one. I cannot get the scanning feature to work since installing Firefox; will work when disabled; need to add to exceptions; don't know

I cannot use the scan function on my all in one when Firefox is on; I have to disable it to get the scanner to work. I did not have this problem until I installed Firefox. I was told I needed to add the scanning function to the Firefox exceptions list, but do not know how to do this procedure. I do not wish to make a big mess!

I need step by step instructions in order to accomplish this.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open the Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Plugins. Is it listed here? Select Disable.
