Google search has been removed from Firefox home page, has not been replaced by other engine.
I tried downloading JDownloader, but it was packed with adware. Among others, it installed a toolbar called "SearchIM" to Firefox without consent. I deleted it, but now the default Firefox home page cannot search, as it is not set to search with any website. I tried resetting it in the options, but it didn't fix it. Any help with getting the home page to search with google would be appreciated.

hello, please see if installing the search reset addon can resolve the issue: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/ (a restart of the browser is necessary afterwards).
