Using explorer you can "click" the "X" and it is deleted; both firefox, and chrome do not have the "X".

Please update to version 57.0.2 for fixes : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version

from the 3 Bar Menu Click then Library then History then View History Side Bar.

from Firefox Menu if not on , Mouse to top of browser and Right Click, Click Menu Bar then History then Show all History.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Thanks for your reply, but I had already cleared the firefox history entry and it did not remove it from the Bing history, and my firefox says it is up to date.

ok, does not show here as updated.

Is Bing in what and where ?

Never heard of Bing history before unless in IE or what ever the new one is called, never use them.

What does not show updated?

Bing is a search engine (Microsoft); it is like Google

Asked you to update. You said you had. I said above : ok........

Then I would think you need to delete the cookie for Bing and Microsoft if can not delete the history as it is being repopulated by the cookie.

Will not do more answers for 1 History entry : you can do a : Please : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles then https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings TEST....... If no issues then Extensions which need to be added back in 1 at a time and tested ..... Or it is your Profile : Make a new one and test ...: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I do not see the message where you said "OK" to my stating I am up to date..until 3:50pm.

I do not know what the question (at 3:50pm) means: "Will not do more answers for 1 History entry : you can do a : Please : "

I have a popup blocker; I disabled it earlier which still didn't help.

I only want to delete one entry for my bing history. As I also said explorer has the "X" to delete, (however I did not use explorer to search, so the entry in question is not in my explorer history. Firefox and Chrome do not have the "X" to delete entries. Try a sample for yourself go to Bing; using explorer, and firefox (I don't think) you will have to sign up to check it out. The search history is in the 3 bar icon in upper right corner. You will know what I am talking about.

Thanks for your help.

Do you mean search history unique to Firefox that shows up in a drop-down with a little clock icon next to it? Or is this search history recorded in your Bing account that you see across browsers?

For Firefox Search & Form history, you can use the keyboard: arrow down to the history entry and tap the Delete key. Note that this is only for items with the clock icon and not for other items (which may be suggestions freshly retrieved from Bing).

If the search history is stored and displayed by Bing, I don't know why you would have different options in Firefox versus IE. (I don't log into Bing, so as far as I know, it isn't recording any history for me.)

more options

No it is not unique to firefox (other than the problem mentioned) and chrome. No there is not a clock icon.

Yes it is in my bing account; but when I clear cookies etc.. which logs me out of bing (and everything else); so anything I search for is also recorded in the bing history (as an anonymous user). Until I log in again and then they are in my personal account again. This is a handy feature for looking up something I may have seen previously but didn't feel a need to bookmark.

Firefox and chrome show the exact same search history, but it is not in explorer. It is my understanding explorer is a different platform, chrome and firefox are the same platform.

I have already deleted it from my firefox history as mentioned above.

Yes cor-el that's exactly where it is at. But as I keep stating there is no "X" under the "search entries time" (using firefox and chrome) to delete the entry. Check that out in explorer and you will see what I am talking about.

But as I keep stating there is no "X" under the "search entries time" (using firefox and chrome) to delete the entry.

I tested in a private window and I did get an X next to the time (attached screenshot). If you hover your mouse in that area, does Firefox detect an invisible X button?

more options

Thanks. I thought you would have the answer for me. I too used a private window and searched for something. I then looked in the search history and there was an "X" next to the time; I deleted it. I was not signed in, so when I signed in using the private window the "X'es" were not there.

I just checked and while using a regular window the same thing happens as with a private window; while signed in; no "X'es" while signed out; yes "X'es". Before you ask; I keep signed in because searching with Bing earns me about $5 a month in rewards.

When I'm logged in, I'm directed to this page to edit search history:

https://account.microsoft.com/privacy/activity-history?view=search

But as you can see in the attached first screenshot, the Delete links (buttons) are disabled. The buttons work if you enable them, but the page doesn't seem to allow that, and Firefox doesn't provide a quick and easy way to do that.

As a workaround, you could use a bookmarklet. That's a script you save as a bookmark (either on the toolbar or menu) that you execute against the currently displayed page by clicking the bookmark's button.

The script is short:

var btns = document.querySelectorAll('.timeline-activity-item .delete-button[disabled]');
for (var i=0; i<btns.length; i++){
  btns[i].removeAttribute('disabled');
}

To install it, see this page: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/sumomarklets.html#BingDelBtns

The second screenshot shows the buttons re-enabled by the bookmarklet. The third screenshot shows the result of clicking one of the re-enabled buttons. You can't see that further down duplicate entries appeared. However, as shown in the fourth screenshot, after using all the available Delete buttons and reloading the page (Ctrl+r), the duplicates vanished.

Hope this helps.

Okay, I don't know if my method will prevent you from earning that money, or whether Bing Rewards uses a separate list. Use at your own (financial) risk!

Somewhere in my searching I have seen the link location above too; with the "delete" function disabled.

Your screenshots with red highlighting are great! I will work on the bookmarklets now! I will let you know if it affects the $$...lol

PS...I have contacted Microsoft/Bing when we figured out the delete functions worked while not logged in, as I figured it might be more their problem than a Firefox problem. They have scheduled a call with me on Tuesday afternoon. I will post anything relevant here.
