The first time I go to my online mail at netaddress.com, Firefox handles logging in correctly--that is, when I click on "Login Name:" Firefox displays the names of my two accounts, and when I select one of them, Firefox enters the correct password. All subsequent times, when I click on "Login Name:" Firefox displays the names of my two accounts plus several more "accounts" that had apparently been entered incorrectly at some time in the past, and when I select one of the two actual account names, Firefox does not enter a password. If I then enter the correct password manually, I log on as I should. Checking the passwords that Firefox has saved for me, I find only the two correct login names and passwords.

If I close and re-open Firefox, it handles the login correctly, but again only once.

This happens with both computers on my LAN. Both machines run XP SP3, and Firefox is v3.6.12.

Remove a saved password here: Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

I can do that, but I don't understand why. When I look at the list, I see the two good login names and their passwords and none of the bogus login names. What good would removing good passwords do?

You can trey to highlight those entries in the drop down list and press the Delete key to remove them.
If it aren't saved passwords then it can be saved form data.

I can highlight the bogus logins from the drop-down list but can't delete them. (I've tried this before.) I removed the good logins and passwords from the Firefox password list, and that solved nothing--that is, all good and bogus logons still appear in the drop-down list.

Oops, sorry there--I tried deleting the bogus entries from the drop-down list with a right-click, and that didn't work, but using the [Delete] key does.

Still, even with only my two good logins appearing on the drop-down list, Firefox auto-enters a password only once. Closing and re-opening Firefox restores automatic password operation only once per password. Do you have any more ideas?
