No internet connection when using VPN

more options

When trying to use the VPN i can connect to the servers just fine but have internet connect with it enabled. I tried clearing out the Appdata folders and reinstalling it, as well as disabling Defender's Firewall but still nothing. Also tried logging out, uninstalling, and then reinstalling the VPN but still no luck getting it to work.

Hi there! Thank you for reaching out. Could you please elaborate more on your issue? Are you unable to connect to the internet while using the VNP, or is the connection slow? Also is this your own secure WIFI or are you using public WIFI when this happens?

When using a VPN your data has to pass through the VPNS server and because of this It is normal to see reduced internet speeds when using a VPN. However, If you are seeing drastically reduced internet speeds while using Mozilla VPN, try the following: Try a different Server. Utilizing a server closer to your actual location should improve network speed. If you are on a Desktop or Laptop, a wired connection to your router will improve the connection speed while using the VPN. If you are on a mobile device, close background or unused apps that could be taking up bandwidth.

When you connect your device to a public WiFi network (like at an airport or cafe) you will usually see a web page asking you to agree to certain terms and conditions before you connect to the internet. This web page is called a captive portal. The captive portal may not appear when Mozilla VPN is on and you have joined the WiFi network. In this case, turning VPN off should allow you to see the captive portal. Just remember to turn VPN back on once you’ve connected to the Internet.

I hope this helps!
