I use Windows 7 for my PC: Why does Firefox show I have the latest version of Flash (26.0.0.126) when there is a newer version available (26.0.0.131)?

I use Windows 7 for my desktop PC. Recently, Flash issued an update on 6/22/17 (version 26.0.0.131). When I open my plug-ins tab, Firefox indicates that my Flash is up to date (version 26.0.0.126). How can it be up to date if a newer version was released?

v. 26.0.0.126 up to date

Where does Firefox show that Flash is up-to-date? I don't think there is a built-in feature for that. Unless something has changed, the "Check for Updates" feature doesn't check plugins. That's why there used to be a link to an external page (why it is no longer there, I know not): https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/

By default, Flash sets up an auto-updater on the system but if that is not working, you can either:

Appreciate your reply, but if there is a newer version, the plugin should have the functionality to allow the update.

Do you mean you would like Firefox to start checking for Flash updates? Support volunteers can't fix that, but you can make suggestions here:

Firefox has always indicated when there was an update for Flash.

I have never ever had Firefox tell me that there was a newer version not has Flash ever updated it self more than once. As per all Plugins it really becomes your responsibility to update and manage them and I believe some where it does say so. But running something like patchmypc once every 2wks would be a good idea as am sure there is more than just flash on your system that is out of date.
