Hi! I have disabled Onspeed as it was not providing the speed increases claimed. When Onspeed was running, Firefox was connected to the www via Onspeed's proxy server (directional.onspeed.com) with the following settings in Firefox: HTTP Proxy 127.0.0.1; PORT 5405. Firefox will not now start and keeps showing the message 'proxy server refusing connection'...What are the Firefox default settings to enable www connection without Onspeed? Thank you

Enabling / Disabling ONSPEED will automatically change the proxy settings. If you haven't removed ONSPEED by uninstalling properly, firefox could still have the ONSPEED proxy settings set. If you're having issues check the Firefox Proxy settings and make sure it is set to use system proxy settings. Then set your system proxy by removing the 127.0.0.1 and Port 5405. It should then work.

I have removed proxy address and port (and changed to "No proxy") every day, but it returns at next time I open Firefox. Moreover, some pages open spontaneously (.adfunky.com....). My security softwares are perfectly installed and updated. I conferred with them (McAfee) yesterday.

I'm having the same problem. I have to change the proxy settings every single time I open firefox. This is really annoying. Can someone tell me how to fix this permanently?

On Windows XP it usually works better to use the "No Proxy" setting.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I've been having this problem for over a month now, and it is getting very annoying. I know how to fix the problem temporarily, but the default setting never changes. This seems ludicrous to me.

Did you try Save mode to see if an extension is restoring that setting?
