I was editing the homescreen page, by holding down and being able to move the icons and I inadvertently dragged away the settings gear icon, I didn't get any delete confirm or anything it just disappeared. Now I tried to retrieve the setting icon by search in the 'I'm thinking of' search, and indeed I can find it, but I cannot drag or set it back , if I tap it nothing happens, while the normal 'online' search result show the option to be added to the homescreen etc. Please help me , thank you:)

You should swipe around on your homescreen to another screen to see if you accidentally moved it to another place.

I only have the main screen and another one, but nothing's there.... to me the real bug sounds like the fact that in the search bar, when I look for settings and I see the proper icon , I cannot tap it and get the 'put in the homescreen' option, like I do for other online apps. :(

The may be a possibility that another homescreen was accidentally created in the process and your settings app may be there.

Is there a way to see that? other than swiping ? I tried to swipe more but it doesnt go further the 2nd screen...

Hello, The only thing I can think of is to reset the device. You can do this at your own risk; you can also wait for another contributor to come around and possibly provide you with more insight.

Warning: Resetting your phone will delete all data stored on the device, including apps, calendar data, email accounts, and settings.

To reset the device, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the Settings application.
  2. Tap on the Device Information button.
  3. Tap on the More Information button.
  4. Tap on the Reset phone button.
  5. Tap OK to continue or Cancel to cancel.

We hope that this fixed the issue you were having. Please report back to us if this helped!

Thank you!

I did that and indeed it's back, only problem, I exported my contacts on the external sd card before doing so, but it seem to have erased that as well, I think it should not erased non-device related storage. I will run some low level undelete programs on the card and hopefully get the data back.

my bad, I did not have a sd card in the phone , I got mistaken with my tablet, but the export contact allowed me to export to 'memory card' without giving any error that no card was there...definitely to add in the todo list eh...
