I have read a number of reports of tab crashing, which I have continually. Running 133.0.3 (64-bit) on Win 11 Home 23H2. Very inconsistent crashes, sometime will open new tabs other times it will crash. I have reinstalled no change. I ran refresh, no change and now when I open Firefox I get a message to restore windows. I can't seem to get that message to go away. Any suggestions, especially about the opening message? I have used FF for years and am almost at the point of switching to Chrome. As an aside, also have problems on some websites processing information/orders when using Firefox. No problem when I switch to Chrome. Thanks in advance......

For the last day I've been having a problem with FF slow to load. I've tried the troubleshoot mode with little change. When it does load I can have problems with certain web sites loading e.g. Youtube, MSNBC, AOL mail etc. It's never consistent. The cache is clean and I've saved all the relevant cookies, I checked my internet provider and they are having no problems and I don't seem to be having any internal hdw issues e.g. ethernet cable connections etc. I reinstalled FF-not a clean install and seemed to help for a time. Do I have any options other than a refresh? I don't seem to be having the same issues with Edge or Chrome. All W11 updates are current. I look forward to anyone's comments.

Hello,

I'm facing a two-fold problem:

1. Firefox (138.0.4, 64-bits): when trying to open a website the URL is loaded in the FF-tab, but the screen stays empty

2. Thunderbird (128.10.0esr, 64-bits): downloading messages isn't possible anymore. When sending a message I get following error message (in Dutch):

Verzenden van het bericht is mislukt. Er is een fout opgetreden bij het verzenden van e-mail: fout met uitgaande (SMTP-)server. De server antwoordde: Cannot connect to SMTP server 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1:54601), connect error 10061.

Translated to English:

I did a ping with following result:

I didn't make any changes to FF and/or TB, and my wild guess is that the necessary Mozilla servers aren't available anymore, due to:

Subject: Assistance Required for Frequent Firefox Crashes on Ubuntu

Dear Developer Team,

I am facing persistent issues with Firefox crashing on my Ubuntu PC, and the problem has been ongoing for the past 40–50 days. Despite multiple attempts at troubleshooting—including uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, clearing all caches, and other measures—the issue remains unresolved.

I’ve noticed that Firefox works for a few days after reinstallation, but then problems begin to surface, such as a half-screen display. Eventually, after restarting the PC, the browser starts crashing again.

Could you please investigate this matter urgently and provide a resolution? Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could clarify whether this might be related to a RAM issue or some other underlying cause.

Looking forward to your assistance.

Best regards, zimmi

A few weeks ago, just after I tried to delete the cache and tracking cookies from Firefox (using AVG TuneUp, which seems to have taken more than I asked it to remove), my browser started refusing to load any new sites, or reload inactive tabs, once I had been using it for about five minutes after rebooting it. It also crashes completely when I try to download or upload anything after that point, which is irritating but does mean I have some crash reports to share (bp-5a7c5f6e-0d55-451a-8b2b-15b360250524 is the latest one). I've tried everything I can think of or find on the Internet - Troubleshoot mode, disabling and re-enabling hardware acceleration, refreshing the browser, uninstalling and re-installing it with and without restarting the computer in-between (which seemed to work for a while), culling tabs (although, if I'm reading the crash reports correctly, lack of memory isn't the issue after all; certainly, Chrome doesn't have the same problem even when using more memory than Firefox did), even running diagnostics on my computer's RAM and hard drive - but nothing's fixed it. What might be going on, and how can I solve this problem?

I have noticed a weird scrolling bug in Firefox since either v138.0 or v138.0.1.

If you go to https://www.architecturaldesigns.com/ and select any floor plan, if you attempt to scroll down the page the page will not let you and snap back to the top.

I tried this in Firefox troubleshooting mode with all add-ons / themes disabled and encountered the same behavior. This is something that just started happening in the last version release or two.

This is present both on Windows as well as Mac versions of the Firefox browser.

For some weeks I have ad an issue with Firefox using 50%-100% of CPU. Normally it is the Firefox process itself, sometimes it is also "Privileged Cont".

OS is Kubuntu 24.04. Firefox has done this across 2-3 versions.

Things I have tried:

Restarting Firefox No change, I'll even get 100% cpu usage with no tabs open

Refresh Firefox to remove settings and addons No change

Uninstall Snap and try direct Apt package No change

Remove ~/.mozilla to fully remove any residual settings/cache/etc No change

Try with and without hardware acceleration See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1308215 No change!

I would blame my old computer hardware, but Brave runs fine. I am now using Brave, but would dearly like to return to Firefox as I miss containers, and I don't support a chromium dominated web.

I tried all common troubleshooting steps: deleting cache reinstalling different settings turning off adblocker/vpn disabled efficiency in task manager and set it permanently to off in FF

I used to have 1000+ tabs in 2016 no issue. I had problem in past with Firefox using 100% CPU which now it is not using only like 50, but memory is getting full 89% i use also large page file on ssd. Problem is even when i restart firefox it is slow with low RAM usage! SO that's not it! Even 5 tabs sometimes it is slow!

It is so damn slow it drives me crazy! I tried also Quantum in past when Firefox has 100% CPU usage bug and it was only tiny bit better but still caused 100% CPU usage!

All other browsers are anti user cannot even stop Autoplay literal terrorist Firefox is only normal browser unfortunately performance compare to 2016 got absolutely abysmal! I had this problem even in-between reinstals of OS so it doesn't seem it is me. I play demanding games no issues on my PC...

Hello Team,

I'm working on building Mozilla FireFox on my riscv64 development platform on Ubuntu-22.04, Below is the source and branch from where i'm using the sources.

https://github.com/mozilla-firefox/firefox.git (Branch: FIREFOX_139_0b10_RELEASE)

I'm following the below steps for build firefox:

Created a mozconfig file with the following contents:

mk_add_options MOZ_OBJDIR=@TOPSRCDIR@/objdir mk_add_options AUTOCLOBBER=1

ac_add_options --enable-application=browser ac_add_options --disable-debug ac_add_options --enable-optimize ac_add_options --disable-tests ac_add_options --without-wasm-sandboxed-libraries

Installed dependencies:

apt-get install -y python3-dev curl curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf https://sh.rustup.rs | sh pip install -U pip ./mach bootstrap cargo install cbindgen apt-get install -y nodejs apt-get install -y llvm-14 llvm-dev clang libclang-dev libpango1.0-dev libx11-xcb-dev libxcomposite-dev libxdamage-dev libgtk-3-dev

Configured the build:

./mach configure

During the build, I encountered an error with Cairo version 1.16.0, so I updated Cairo to the latest version by doing the following:

tar -xvf cairo-1.18.4.tar.xz apt-get install -y meson mkdir build && cd build pip3 install --upgrade meson meson .. --prefix=/usr/local ninja sudo ninja install pkg-config --modversion cairo

After which I executed build:

./mach build

The build took ~14 hours and reached this step:

892:50.50 Compiling gkrust v0.1.0 (/root/firefox/toolkit/library/rust)

However, after about 30 hours, I ran into an Out of Memory issue. I am using a 64GB SD card for the build and have created a 10GB of swap space within the 64GB, but still encountered this error:

[189659.052881] Out of memory: Killed process 52440 (rustc) total-vm:14996824kB, anon-rss:5113116kB, file-rss:0kB, shmem-rss:0kB, UID:0 pgtab0 2811:13.62 error: could not compile gkrust (lib) 2811:14.39 Caused by: 2811:14.50 process didn't exit successfully: `/root/.rustup/toolchains/stable-riscv64gc-unknown-linux-gnu/bin/rustc --crate-name gkrust --e) 2813:03.10 gmake[4]: *** force-cargo-library-build Error 101 2813:03.15 gmake[3]: *** toolkit/library/rust/target-objects Error 2 2813:03.44 gmake[2]: *** compile Error 2 2813:03.70 gmake[1]: *** default Error 2 2813:03.90 gmake: *** [client.mk:60: build] Error 2 2813:04.19 W 271 compiler warnings present.

Could you please help me troubleshoot or suggest how to resolve the memory issue?

Any help & support is greatly appreciated!

Regards, saiteja
