After upgrading to 28.0 (on Windows 7) I can no longer connect to any site via our company proxy.

The browser will show "Connecting..." and never return.

I've enabled logging and see a "proxy CONNECT failed! ssl=true" message. The proxy has been working with 27.0 and it is working with the current Chrome.

Configure your proxy in the Network settings under: Preferences/Options > Advanced > Network and set it to "Auto" If this does not work, please talk to the company proxy provider to make sure Firefox is an allowed application on the network. 407 is an authentication error.

I had to add a new rule to my Firewall (Bit Defender) for the update before I could get past 'Connecting...'

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info! Could you post the required changes so I can give them to our network guys?

Generically you would delete the current firewall rule and add a new one. The rule should point to firefox.exe in your Mozilla Firefox folder.

If Bit Defender is your firewall, then on the home screen for Bit Defender click on the small gear icon on the Firewall tab to configure firewall settings. Then click Application Rules. Find the current Firefox rule and delete it. Then click Add Rule. Navigate to firefox.exe in your Mozilla Firefox folder; on my computer it is under Program Files(x86)/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe. Check the appropriate boxes under Network Types and change any of the other settings as necessary for your setup then click Ok.

Hopefully that fixes your issue as well.
