I did as instructed RE: Cut and Paste, still does not work.

However, the instructions given although carefully followed do not produce the desired results. At this time I shall be forced to use another Browser since I work extensively online and I "have to" be able to cut and paste. If you can respond in a timely fashion and a solution I will continue with firefox, which I like. Otherwise my frustration level has peaked and any interest in firefox is waning fast.
I should be able to accomplish this task with simple steps, not an eternity of troubleshooting your badly setup 'protection.' I am equally sure that many others have no problem, I however do.
I have provided you with some basic information concerning this machine, should you require something specific I am sure I will be happy to remit it to you.

On that site, can you use the standard Windows keyboard shortcuts to cut, copy and paste: Ctrl+x, Ctrl+c, Ctrl+v?
Due to privacy and security concerns — the edit you are trying to make would allow any website to read and change whatever is on your clipboard whenever they feel like it, regardless of where you copied it from — some of the older ways that sites interact with Firefox have been turned off.
Oops, I don't know the standard keys on your Linux system, but it would be the same idea. Typically the standard keys are listed as shortcuts on Firefox's Edit menu.
I should have more caffeine before replying. Your user.js code isn't setting the default policy, it's defining a policy that you then can apply to specific websites. That definitely is safer.
However, the preference to actually apply the defined policy to specific websites is completely missing from your posted code. Check out the examples in these articles (it's the preference containing the word sites:

Please note that changes to user.js are only read after you exit and restart Firefox.
I agree this is a headache, and suggest using the default keys for your OS unless the site blocks them.
Thanks for the heads up on the Windows keys, Linux keys work the same on most distributions as on MAC except it is the Command key rather than the Control key.
What I don't understand is why have an entire page explaning how to overcome the problem that simply doesn't work. Why not just write what you wrote to me, make sure that page pops up and gives the option you just gave me instead of futzing with user.js.
I understand the security, however, with the new world of offline software this is unhelpful of Mozilla. No-one comes to make sure the locks on my house doors work, I take of that and I can take care of ne'er do wells online as well. Mozilla, take a valium.
I thought I was doing the right thing by removing the reference to mozilla and adding the site I wished the cut and paste to apply to, I have many sites that require the kind of interaction requiring cutting and pasting. For example, if I am responding to a blog or other such discussion I write in a text editor first, make sure I spell check and re-read. Then I copy it and paste into the blog/discussion. Being prevented means I spend too much time indulging in correct phrasing etc. I will investigate user.js on those links. Thank you for taking the time with me.

Hi david2014, when you say you removed the reference to Mozilla and added the site you wished the cut and paste to apply to, it seems you actually changed a sample preference to set your home page instead of creating the new preference related to the clipboard policy. If you add that preference, does it work?

Thanks for the slightly different user.js text, I'll try it. But I am happy enough with the keyboard solution. However, I really do have sites that I'd prefer were specific to this funtionality, so I will try your solution.

Note that the capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites only needs to be added once and you can specify multiple websites separated by a space character.
