Trying to get Google Advanced Search to stop autocomplete in search block with Firefox 17
Started recently in the past few Firefox releases, I think. I generally browse using Firefox 17.0.1, not IE 9.0.811etc., and my home page is Google Advanced Search. I think I've tried everything - finally got histories deleted, and Tools, Options, (all tabs) set to what I want, but there is no option to "disable Autocomplete" (or similar) that I can find. I prefer not to remain 'signed in' all the time when using Google. Anyway, I want to get rid of previous search terms and not have dropdowns always in the search window. Also, a new problem when using Firefox and looking at websites. I prefer NOT to use tabs, and often have a window or two open when looking things up. I prefer to right click links on a search page or liks on a page I am viewing, and I select "Open Link in New Window" as opposed to in a new tab, and usually, as (or immediately after) the new window opens, it hides beneath the window I was just looking at. VERY aggravating! I see lots of questions on this, but no real solutions.

The advanced Google search page ([*]) doesn't use suggestions AFAICT and doesn't have an autocomplete=off, so what you see is the Firefox feature to save form data.
- Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember search and form history"
Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop down list:
- Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
- Highlight an entry in the drop down list
- Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
Hey, THANKS, guy! cor-el, you deserve the "Happy Holiday - THANKS!" prize. Fixes my issue (one of them) and made me (a bit) smarter...it's a "save form data" issue. And happier. Any idea why, when I right-click to open a new window, (sometimes/usually) it opens beneath the current window? It was always that when I opened new windows, the newest were always stacked on top of the older. It seems to me that this has just started with the last few releases of Firefox. ???? Again, thanks for a quick and on-target reply.
