Simply put, Firefox 15 is not restoring my last session. I have it set in my options to restore the last session, but it's not happening. Prior to the update, it was working, and now it's not working on both of my computers.

Found out the real reason why it wasn't working: the add-on Super Tab Mode caused the pages to not load.

Can you still restore the previous session via History > Restore Previous Session?

If that menu entry is grayed then session restore isn't working properly.

Does it help with selecting this startup setting if you are not already using it?

Are you using any cleanup software like CCleaner that may prevent Firefox from creating a sessionstore.js file? Is there a sessionstore.js file in the Firefox Profile Folder?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

No, I cannot restore it by using restore previous session. The settings in the options menu are correct. I am not using any cleanup programs, and there was a sessionrestore.js file.

I tried deleting those files, created a new session, and then closed and see if the restore session would work, but it didn't.

You haven't confirmed whether the History > Restore Previous Session entry is not available (grayed), so you you please answer that?

Did you check in the task manager that Firefox is closing properly?

Does it help if you use "Firefox/File > Exit" to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar?

more options

Yes, it was grayed out. I did not check in the task manager, and I was using the close x on the title bar.

If that entry is grayed then Firefox didn't succeed to save that session data.

If the startup setting is "Show my windows and tabs from last time" then Firefox should save the current session data every 10 seconds.

Does the sessionstore.js file contain the URLs of the previous session?

It is showing the URLs of my current session.

Another behavior I'm noticing:

If I close firefox with only 1 tab, it will restore that tab. If I have multiple tabs, it will just show up as a single blank tab.

Another thing: Sometimes, it will load up the URL of the last tab in my session only, but it won't load up the page automatically.

Do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the "Browsing History".

It is currently set to remember history.

Switched to Firefox beta and it is now automatically restoring the sessions again.

Found out the real reason why it wasn't working: the add-on Super Tab Mode caused the pages to not load.

I had the same problem, even app tabs were forgotten between sessions. It turned out that All In One Sidebar 0.7.18 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/all-in-one-sidebar/) was causing it. Despite having the add-on installed on all my machines, only one of the machines had the problem. Anyway, after uninstalling and re-installing the add-on (same version, actually), session restoration started working again.

I was also having a similar problem and it went away when I realize the setting of clearing history after Firefox closes conflicts with the setting of restoring previous tabs. Because otherwise sessionstore.js will be deleted each time you close Firefox.

Alas do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the "Browsing History".

As I said above, it was the Super Tab Mode that was causing the failure. I did not have that option checked. The problem at the time was replicable across every machine I installed Super Tab Mode on, so it was a problem with the add-on, not Firefox.
