There is no automatic reconfigure of existing accounts. You will have to manually enter the changes.
If your account is IMAP unless you have transferred email at the server level all existing mail will be lost in the transfer. If you still have the original server, I suggest you export all mail from the account to an mbox file before you do anything else.
