I've been Firefox user since first available. Is it true what people are saying that Mozilla is collecting user website visit data and will soon begin banning people from using Firefox if they visit websites that differ politically from Mozilla's? All big tech companies are doing this and my son said Mozilla issued press release saying people who don't agree with Mozilla politics should be ”punished”. I'm in my mid 70s and trying to protect myself from problems.

My son is coming to visit me and he says he'll replace this web viewer with something else and get me off using Google too. We thought the chairwomans article went against what I fought in two wars for so he said he'd fix it for me. Thanks for your replies.

Hi TA, I have not heard of this and it would be against Mozilla's policy to track your use of Firefox. "People are saying" is famously a way to spread bullshit around. Don't believe the lie.

Mozilla's mission is to fight for a web that is open to everyone: https://www.mozilla.org/mission/

I don't follow these things but while I waiting to see if I got an answer here my son emailed me a link to the chairwoman of Mozilla's organization and it was another of those things about white supremacy and how people who visit websites Mozilla does not like "requires more than just the temporary silencing or permanent removal". I'm retired and almost, not quite yet, in a nursing home and I don't want to get in trouble for randomly reading any old website. That blog writing she did was frankly scary for an old veteran like me. I don't know what you young people are doing to what we fought for but it does not sound good. Thanks for getting back to me. I think I need to talk to someone about how to remove this.

Hi

I think you may be talking about the recent blog article that Mozilla has posted.

It is not talking about Mozilla collecting user data and Mozilla banning people from websites. It is suggesting that the way that fake news and harmful content is managed online is something that needs a range of measures and the article describes some of them.

Hi TA, if you prefer to use a different browser, that's fine, but be clear that your Firefox browser is not reporting your browsing habits to Mozilla.
