Uploading any picture in Firefox glitches out: shows a giberish picture
Whenever I try to upload a picture, be it on whatsapp web, or just the firefox account manager (setup profile pic), it completely shows a picture that is... glitchy.
When it happened: 3 months ago, suddenly, do not remember any particular change I did to my firefox installation What I tried:
- disable all extensions (didnt solve it)
- restart firefox in safe mode (didnt work)
- uninstall firefox and reinstall it
- deleteing / not migrating my old stuff to the new one (didnt work)

Oh wow, the solution is easier than I thought and it is my mistake. I have restricted/blocked by default the permission named "Extract Canvas Data". I left it as blocked for now, and what I do is I enable it only for the sites that require it for a time, then disable it after, like this:
- Go to the website where you want to upload pictures/video
- Right click on empty space to get "View Page Info"
- Go to the "Permissions" tab
- for the setting "Extract Canvas Data" change it to Enable
- (optional) after uploading media, do the same but Disable

one of the pictures is depicting the firefox account manager picture updater with the finalized/uploaded picture (the one that is glitched out), the other is the source image i tried to upload
Did you try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect ?
Rebooted in safe mode with network support, it did not help, further suggestions? What I tried in safe mode:
- upload profile picture to firefox account manager, it resulted in the same giberish picture I attached to the main post.
- sent a screenshot saved as jpeg on whatsapp web, same gibersih picture
the tried picture and result:
