I have very solid security so I'm not concerned about updates. I need to know if Firefox will cut me off or can it still be my browser with my Windows XP? Please don't send me dire warnings about security I understand security & I'm covered. Thanks for any info you can give me about whether Firefox will continue for me.I love Firefox but replacing my PC to keep it is not a possibility.

Yes you can as there is no expiry date or such.

Microsoft made WinXP EOL back in April 2014 for regular users so WinXP has not really been safe to use online since.

As you may know the 52.9.x ESR will get more and more vulnerable and will potentially not support any new cipher and TLS changes and such as time goes on.

So you are aware: https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox-esr/

For example some sites like eBay and PayPal are now looking for web browsers that support TLS 1.2 at minimum (which Firefox has by default since 27.0) and Firefox 60.0 and later supports TLS 1.3 by default now.

Besides using Windows 7 or later there is the option of dual booting with a light Linux distro (Xubuntu and Lubuntu among others) that still supports the old 32-bit CPU's.

Linux of any flavor won't run on my PC. I know. I've tried. I paid for online, and on-site support and spent months on Linux forums troubleshooting and trying things. The ultimate answer after trying countless tricks and tweaks from a command prompt was always the same - format the drive and start over with a different distribution...How many times have YOU formatted your drive and reinstalled the OS? No less than 50 times on my machine. Also changed the drives and Gigabyte exchanged the motherboard. It gets old after a while. After 2 1/2 years of this, I got XP installed and running. Now I'm finally getting some use out of my $1600 initial investment, and I'm told I have to upgrade! To WHAT? Microsoft yanked Win 7 off the market before I could buy it. I'm not going to buy a cracked copy from some Warez site or unscrupulous dealer, only to have my credit card stolen, or the machine shut down. I'd buy Win 10 if it wasn't so bloated, and over priced.

I have been searching for a place to ask a question - no luck. I will post it here. With the end of firefox support of Windows Vista next month - is that somehow connected to the problem that I can no longer play any free online game (wired arcade, pogo, and the list goes on...).

I'm using my laptop and I've tried to load several of my favorite games with no luck. What's happened ???

Probably not connected to using Firefox on Vista. More likely is that those games have ended support for Vista, which Microsoft ended their extended support on April 11, 2017.

Best to contact Support for each of those games to find out why you're not able to play those games; or install the games that you can't install - an issue beyond the realm of Firefox support entirely.

I was able to play them until just recently - like yesterday. Btw, Firefox did update shockwave flash July ll, 2018 and that pretty much coincides with the issue I am now having. Or,not.

I really wish firefox would clarify their announcement re ending support for Windows Vista, xp, etc. It only says "August 2018" . Are they making changes now and are those changes creating issues for these users...??

Neither Mozilla or the web browser Firefox did any updates to the NPAPI Flash Player Plugin from Adobe as the Flash updates are from Adobe. The Flash Player Plugin is installed on the OS and not in Firefox as you can see in about:plugins

The Firefox 52.9.0 ESR out on June 26 was the last Major update for the older 52 ESR branch. As of Sept 5 there will be no more planned minor 52.9.x esr updates for security and or stability reasons.

The current Firefox versions on Sept 5 will then be 62.0 and 60.2.0 ESR both of which will not run on the EOL WinXP and Vista as 53.0 and later requires Windows 7, 8 (8.1), 10. to run.
