Why don't the blank tab settings sync?

So I recently upgrade to Firefox 57 on my computer at home (whee!!), and just now upgraded my Firefox at work. My new tab settings are for a blank tab, however even though I have syncing on I still see the web search bar, top sites, recommendations, etc on the blank tab page even though I configured them all to be off at home. Why are these preferences not being synced?

Also, could you have a "absolutely blank" page checkbox on the main settings? I personally don't want anything on my blank, new tab and instead of having to every time an upgrade changes things have to reset things back to off this would be great.
