Your Firefox is out of date. Update now ... My web PC is also out of date and latest Firefox will not install. I'll never - NEVER- update. CLARO? My security is my business, NOT yours!!!! Performance would be much better without your annoying pop-up!!! What are you? Branch of Microspy hm.. I mean soft.

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

Editorial Comment

Have you heard about botnets? Security vulnerabilities on devices that stay on the network for extended periods of time, like a stinking pile of rotting garbage next to a busy street, are everyone's problem, not just the device owner's problem.

As far as I can tell, people don't mind updates that happen without being noticeable. But if something noticeable changed, then they complain that they weren't given a choice. If given a choice, they complain about having to choose (due to the frequency, lack of detailed information, etc.). It's not an easy problem to solve.

Suggestion

I certainly sympathize with users that want Firefox security updates without feature changes. That isn't an option Mozilla offers for its regular release. The closest thing is the Extended Support Release (ESR), which has feature updates approximately once a year, and security updates every several weeks.

Firefox ESR is currently based on Firefox 45, not much different from Firefox 43, which is how your Firefox identified itself. If something is holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 45, please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds. Mozilla is quite open about vulnerabilities in Firefox compared to other browser companies which hide them more. The old Firefox 43 is going to be increasingly more vulnerable over time. https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox/

Note if your old PC has a older CPU which does not support SSE2 then you will not be able to use Firefox 49.0 or later up to 52.0 ESR.

Also note some websites may be where the outdated message is coming from and not the Firefox browser.
