I open www.google.co.uk or www.mozilla.org in Chrome or Opera and it is fine. I open either site in Firefox and it complains that the sites are not trusted and am I sure that I want to go to them. I have seen ridiculous options mentioned to overcome this like download the certificate and accept it (with many people complaining that these crazy answers don't work anyway.) I should not have to do anything. It should just work. Uninstalled Firefox and awaiting your response before reinstalling. Annoyed because I am a web developer and I like using Firefox.

hello Paddi7, there will be a reason why the error is shown. first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a possible solution depends on different factors:

  • what is the error code shown under technical details on the error page?

in case the error code equals sec_error_unknown_issuer, please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page & inspect the certificate (see the screenshot attached for instructions):

  • which issuer information does the certificate contain?

thank you!
