Sync doesn't work between 2 desktops
Linux/Xubuntu running Firefox 29.0 and Windows 7 running Firefox 29.0.1. I have spent the past couple of hours trying to get sync to work with no luck, trying everything I could find on this site, including the links to the instructions and the troublehooting, replies to questions, and even the video.
Am I right in assuming that because the Firebox versions don't match that sync won't work? Or is there yet something else that is the reason? Or can it be done, and I just haven't figured it out?
Thanks for your help.

HI jeffsiegel99, The devices have to be on 29 or over in order for the new sync to work. If you are experiencing errors or if sync completes and you still do not see the items sync, then yes there is more troubleshooting information.
When both devices are on the same version, please post back if there are any further errors or issues. We are happy to help.
Both machines are 29 -- 29.0 on Xubuntu and 20.0.1. on Windows 7. Sync completes, and nothing has apparently changed. So yes, I need more troubleshooting information.
Hi jeffsiegel99,
Ok here are the instructions on how to obtain logs:
# Open about:config and turn on:
services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess
and
services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
# Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log # Logs and error messages will be located here
If you have a way of hosting the sync logs of the most current sync we can take a look and email rnewman with any errors. Thank you!
If it is constantly syncing, you can also try updating to version 30. This issue was updated.
I will try sync again after I upgrade. That seems to be the best bet. Thanks for your help.
HI jeffsiegel99, How did it go?
