My email goes to outlook rather than my just installed Thunderbird. I only opened up outlook because the email I sent never arrived on Thunderbird.

By the way: The message which didn't arrive may have got stuck in the spam filter of your provider. Log into their web interface with a browser (most providers have one) and check the "Spam" or "Junk" folder. From there, you usually can move it back into the Inbox and thus make it visible to Thunderbird again.
