Firefox updates to C: while installed on D: — can I change this?

I installed Firefox on D: to save space on C:, but when it updates it automatically it switches back to C:.

I would ideally like it to update to wherever it is installed, and “Check and let me decide” should also allow one to specify the new location, with current location as default. An alternative would be some settings in the options or about:config.
