How can I update to Firefox 27.0.1 without losing all my history and bookmarks?
I can't find a way to update Firefox. I tried following what they say and clicking "About Firefox" but it does absolutely NOTHING to help... It tells me to recheck for updates online and ends up sending me to the very same screen that said to click "About Firefox" in the first place! I also tried clicking on the update window that pops up, but whenever I click on it it will get stuck and only say, "connecting to server." I hear you can reinstall Firefox but I CANNOT lose all of my history and bookmarks. Is there anything on earth I can do?

You can backup your profile data:
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
- Firefox 27.0.1: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
Will the profile keep all of my history instead of just the pages I saved?
Yes, you should keep all your personal data that is stored in the Firefox profile folder, but it never hurts to backup your data regularly.
