When you say sites that embed links to other sites, is there any correlation with embedded videos or other media? If so, you might consider disabling the new protected mode in Flash 11.3, since that feature is currently being debugged. See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?

When I look up your crash ID, there isn't much information available yet. Do all the crash IDs have a similar signature? Perhaps you could post a few more.

I keep getting long pauses as the spinning wheel appears many times I go to a different tab, update an open tab, or just do anything. Occasionally it will crash, but mainly it will just stall, CPU usage jumps to over 100%, and I have to sit and wait until it chills out, and is functioning again. This is very frustrating, and I'm about to just give up, as this is a royal pain in the butt.... WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

The following file seems to be showing up in all your crash reports:

Infilter32.dll

I couldn't find such a file on my system in C:\Windows, or in c:\Program Files (x86), or my active settings folder (Help > Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder button). Google searches didn't help identify it either. ??

Could you do some searches on your system and see whether you can track down the file and figure out what software it is associated with?

I suggest you read Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) It could be that your problem relates to malware, and the problem may sometimes be freezing or hanging rather than crashes.

Whatever is happening it is best if you start a new thread by asking your own question, the article I linked to explains how to do this and how to obtain the important Crash ID information.

This is a longshot, and may be leading down a blind alley, but I do happen to note similar filenames relating to Adobe Photoshop and its use of plug-in-filters32 apparently from third party developers.

If you do not find the exact file Infilter32.dll but you happen to have Adobe Photoshop you could consider unistalling it or at least any plugins for Photoshop.

Thanks for these ideas. I don't have Adobe photoshop but Adobe has recently updated on my system. I think I will uninstall it and reinstall to see if that affects anything. I can't find Infilter32.dll by typing it into the find pane in my computer, how else do I search for that pls?

Thanks but I doubt it's malware as I have a Mac. And I've read the troubleshooting info, and really, it's an awful lot of jumping through hoops & resetting all kinds of things, etc., just to use a browser without it constantly hanging, freezing, crashing, & lately, flash is crashing constantly. I've got everything updated and so don't know what else to do about that, having videos just stop and disappear midway through is ridiculous. Is it really this difficult to construct browsers that just do what they're supposed to do? I don't really have hours to spend in time-consuming "trouble-shooting", which is what has happened now for years..... Sorry for venting, but with all the technological advances & skill out there today, you'd think a browser that just works could one day become a reality.

Just a quick note to ask that this thread remain focussed on the original post, namely some crashes I am having related to clicking photographic links within sites and from site to site. Please note I have now reinstalled all my adobe software and await to see what happens with the crashing. I would very much welcome more technical help if anyone has any idea what is causing the crashes, and I will be sure to post here if my reinstallation of all the Adobe downloads changes the position. I have looked at several of your Crash Reports, and noticed as pointed out already by jscher2000 the reference to Infilter32.dll

I know that has come up in some crash reports, but do not see much other reference to it. Two, to me at least, plausible reasons for this are

• the reporter is not parsing it properly, and the name is actually slightly different
• it is malware problem and is generating a pseudo random file name.

The Adobe plugins use of third party software could be part of your problem.

Please answer let us know

• Did you search for and find Infilter32.dll
  • if so what else do you know about the file, and what uses it
  • if all else fails simply rename the file to see what happens.
    - the crashes should stop, or at least give a different Crash Signature
    - probably some other software will not work fully, I am predicting something to do with photos
• Do you use Adobe Photoshop ?

Please start your own thread, rather than posting in threads by others that you consider related. If you do get crashes

1. read Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes
2. look for your Crash IDs, obtainable from about:crashes
3. post them in a separate thread,
   • in the unlikely event you see the same Crash Signature as Emily then follow this thread and post a cross reference to your new question.

Note Emily has provided Crash IDs which are showing a consistent Crash signature.

Thanks for your comments, John99. I have done a malwarebytes scan and spyware scan as per the Firefox advice, in addition to having Norton installed in any event. Nothing came up. So if it's malware, I could be at the end of the line. I did search for Infilter32.dll using the windows search pane but don't know how else to search if not found there, so any advice on that would be gratefully received. I did not find it. I don't have Adobe photoshop, just flash, acrobat and reader and have uninstalled and reinstalled those plus operated in safe mode without plugins. I agree it reacts to photos, it routinely does this on the ebay, amazon and john lewis sites but not often on anything else. I'll just provide my last 2 crash reports. ID:

I have tried to avoid using Windows & Windows 7. The search system has changed somewhat since Windows XP , which I was more familiar with. One main change is that Windows 7 tends to do a rather limited search initially, it then gives you the option to do a more complete and slower search afterwards specifying that you are searching the entire computer

You can check the crash reports yourself by clicking on the links that you get from about:crashes.

• If near the top of the page it shows Crash Signature: infilter32.dll@0x12ea6 then it is the same Crash signature as most of your crashes.
• If it shows Signature: (null signature) then it probably has no useful information
  • e.g. de9ab6f7-5041-4bf7-8a58-bc3022120803
• if you find other Crash signatures they may be helpful, post the link so we can see if it throws any light on the issue.

Hopefully you may now be able to find the mystery file. Note occasionally files exist with the same name but in different locations. When you find it please report where it is located, and whether it is the only copy.

Aha John99, you have helped me greatly. I clicked search further, then search computer, then got the file's location. It is in my Cybersentinel software. Cybersentinel is a third-party program that spies on one's computer monitors in order to track usage. You get an email if there is a violation. We use it as well as Net Nanny in order to protect the kids. Rather than change the file for the moment as I don't have the savvy to risk that, I'll uninstall the software and also alert cybersentinel tech helpline to the problem in case other clients of theirs have it. I'll reinstall when I've proven this is the problem. But if uninstalling that does not resolve my issue, I'll be sure to post more on this thread.

Uninstall if you can easily re-install. Otherwise consider trying initially just renaming the file from Infilter32.dll to something like OLDInfilter32.dll . That is easy and quick to do and undue, but the results could be slightly unpredictable.

Is the version you are using a free one or is it paid for software? One would hope paid for software would be compatible with the latest Firefox version.
