Using old interface for 'update addons' in Firefox 4?

Hi all,

I'm very fond of the new Firefox 4 interface - except for one thing, which is the 'update plugins' procedure. Now, in Firefox 4, to update addons, one should choose Tools/Add-ons, which opens a the "Add-ons Manager" in a new tab; then one should click on that icon with tools (hammer, etc) and choose "Check for updates".

After that, Firefox checks for updates - but the problem is, if it finds any updates, it downloads them automatically - WITHOUT ANY FEEDBACK WHICH ADDONS ARE ACTUALLY UPDATED OR NOT !!!!!!! And after that, the ONLY action available is to restart Firefox and proceed with the update!

Now, in Firefox 3.6, the update procedure would have at least had an indication next to which plugin is it, that is being updated - and at least in theory, if one didn't want a particular plugin to update at the time, there was an option to skip the update at the time.

Is there any possibility to use this old Add-ons window, and the update procedure that came with it? Having to update plugins without the software telling you which plugins are update smells too much of Microsoft, honestly..

Go to the Add-ons manager and click "Update Add-ons automatically" to remove the checkmark.

Firefox doesn't do updates for plugins, are you talking about extensions instead?

When you click the Gear button at the top of the Add-ons Manager tab when Extensions is selected, do you have Update Add-ons Automatically check-marked?

With that de-selected and you use the Check for Updates menu item from that Gear, you will get a display of available updates in that tab when you select Available Updates #. You also get Update Now buttons for each extension to get the update all by itself, a Release Notes button for each, and a button at the top to Install Updates which downloads the updates for all extensions in that display.

BTW, that Gear button also has a menu item for View Recent Updates, which will give you a display of all the most recently updated extensions.
