Print PDF at a specific site crashes Firefox since the last update

I collected screen shots for doc. I get the message that there is a problem sending the report to Firefox. Website is: https://signin.guardianlife.com/signin https://customeraccess.guardianlife.com/overview

I tried starting with all extensions disabled - same results.

Is the development crew monitoring this? Something changed with this release that's causing this. I wouldn't mind if it didn't work, but crashing the browser is a no-no.

I'm sorry to hear about this problem. Firefox 103 has a known issue printing PDFs with embedded images: the image are scaled too large. That isn't necessarily related to the crashing problem, but it might be.

For now, I think it's best to print PDFs from Preview, Acrobat, or Safari until this is sorted out. Also, please try again to submit your crash report. You can open the about:crashes page (type or paste that in the address bar and press Return to load it) to try sending it again. Once you get a bug report code starting with bp- then you can share that with us to take a look.

Will this issue be resolved? Or is it now a feature?

It is obviously not a feature. There is a bug on file, and work ongoing to figure out how to solve the scaling issue.

If you need assistance with crashes, can you share some of the crash report IDs? More info on that: Firefox crashes - asking for support.

Workaround for Printing PDFs on Mac with Firefox 103-104

You can open the PDFs in Preview or Acrobat for printing when they contain images. Here's how to do it on a one-by-one basis:

  • For PDFs that show an https:// address, use the download button on the viewer toolbar to save it.
  • For PDFs that show a file:/// address, click the Downloads button on the toolbar, right-click (Ctrl+click) the item, and open in Preview/Acrobat/System Viewer (the display may vary).

If this is a frequent problem, you can change the way Firefox handles PDFs by default to either ask how you want to open the PDF or just automatically open it in Preview or Acrobat. This support article has the details: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-or-choose-another-viewer
