Hi. I am trying to move my Thuderbird on Windows XP (version 45.8) to a new computer using Windows 7. I have moved my e-mails etc by copying the profile, but I can't find my address book. I also find it won't save my passwords to look up new e-mails. If I tick the box to save the password, it dosen't recover any new e-mails, if i don't tick the box i get new e-mails, but the password is not saved? Any ideas please? Many thanks

Moving a profile from TB 45 to TB 91, without running versions 52, 60, 68, 78, is probably a stretch that omits several conversion processes. It might work for the mail folders, but passwords, authentication methods and address books often don't transfer seamlessly.

I would recommend you create a new profile in 91, starting from Help/More Troubleshooting, about:profiles, and add the accounts. Passwords should work correctly. On the XP computer, export the address books as LDIF files and import them on the W7 computer. Copy local mail from the Mail subfolder of the XP profile by copying the mbox files from Mail/<popservername>, Mail/Local Folders and sbd subdirectories, to Mail/Local Folders in the new profile. Mbox files are the large files with no extension, named after folders, e.g. Inbox.
