Bonjour, Probably since an update 1 out of 2 times bookmark and menu buttons don't work after starting up. I close and reopen and everything is fine. It's annoying. I've tried easy suggestions -cookies -refresh -without success." Delete Firefox preference files" seem too complicated for me.

What security software do you have?

This usually happens when other software is blocking Firefox from accessing places.sqlite.

thanks for answer, I have no other security than Windows 10 (should I?) I looked into 'see also' : I have 2 places.sqlite files, shm and wal, and 1 'places' file all with a black square in case for 'read only'. Didn't feel happy about touching them. I'm giving a try without Firefox in start up menu, see after a few new start-ups.

The shm and wal files are temporary SQLite files.

Always first try to reboot the computer in case closing and restarting Firefox more than once doesn't have effect. You can also try to run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) in case some actions are still pending.

......thanks cor-el. First time I've heard about Firefox administrator - tell me more... Since these updates, I felt that something was playing up, in the end I went mad and reinstalled both Windows and Firefox. It was a long job and very complicated to recover Firefox profile, but it seems better.
