firefox is not responding for ten out of every eleven seconds

i had to download another browser just to send this msg. firefox takes about 2 mins to start, then it only works for about a second, then it stalls for about ten seconds. everything else on my computer works perfectly, but even if it's the only thing running, firefox is worthless

Hi joseph563,

Did you try to run Firefox in Safe Mode ? Also, did you uninstall Firefox (bookmarks backup done previously) and reinstall it ?

neither worked. simply opening firefox maxes out my pc usage and slows everything to to a halt. with much patience i can actually get to a video, but while the sound plays uninterrupted, the picture is frozen and my entire machine stalls. words i type take about 20 secs to show up, including this message
