CHANGE IN FF 40.0.3 HAS TO GO!!!!!
I just updated to FF 40.0.3 because it said it had a security update that had to be made. Okay, that's good. I get the update and then I wanted to call up a new tab so I clicked the "+" to the right of the last tab. It used to show various sites I had visited. To my total disgust it now shows https://www.google.com/ ! I DESPISE Google. How do I stop this travesty? DuckDuckGo is my default browser & should NOT be called up when I click the + to open a new tab.How can I FIX this disgusting situation? I checked the FF prefs & it does show DDG as my default browser. This is on a Windoze Vista Ultimate PC being accessed from my Windoze-10 laptop in the other room.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You can look at the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page and set that pref to the URL of your preferred new tab page. You can use these special pages or set the pref to the URL of your preferred new tab page.
- the default new tab page with the tiles is about:newtab
- the default home page is about:home
- for a blank page you can use about:blank
The browser.newtabpage.enabled pref should be set to true to use the page set via browser.newtab.url as the new tab page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
