The history sidebar will not clear, even after clearing the history, how do I clear the history sidebar?

Even after clearing the history (FireFox 6.0.2) the history sidebar still contains all of a friends history.

After deleting each item individually, and telling it to forget each site, they all come back again.

Any ideas on how to clear the history sidebar?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
