I opened firefox and it looked like it briefly updated before starting. Home page of google news did not come up and the address bar was blank, as was the screen. I'll type a variety of web addresses into the address bar and it appears to accept them, but the screen never changes from being blank. When bookmarks are clicked, the current web address doesn't change, and the page remains blank.

I had just started using a service to mask my ip address called unblock-us.com. This required me to disable Internet Protocol 6, and use a specific DNS server address in Internet Protocol 4. I had zero problems with firefox while doing this, but thought it might be relevant. I've reversed these changes but it has not changed the state of firefox.

Chosen solution

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
