Why I cannot open a selected page; unwanted sites keep coming up?

When I type a web address in the task bar, I do not immidiately get the same web page and some different web flashes in.Even after refreshing the page and reloading , the result is same. I have to per force go to the home page (which is google.com) and access the desired web page through google search.
