Assuming the old laptop still works: - with thunderbird not running, copy c:\users\<yourid>\appdata\roaming\thunderbird to external media - install thunderbird on new laptop and exit. - copy the backed up thunderbird folder on the external media to c:\users\<yourid>\appdata\roaming to overwrite the default from the installation - start thunderbird on new laptop. If profile was not corrupted, all should work.
