I tried google chrome and that fixed the problem for a while then it came back. I then refreshed mozillafirefox and that fixed the problem but it is starting to come back again .At times I cant use the 1 or the 3 or the q. I push the keys and they do not respond .When I refresh firefox they come good for a few days. I am new to computers

hi, this sounds rather like a hardware issue unrelated to firefox - do you have a replacement keyboard at hand that you could try using for a bit to see if that has the same problem as well?

Yes I have a new key board and it solved the problem for a few days then it would not let me backspace.I went to internet explorer to try that way and it seemed to fix the problem with the 13q and backspace but I could not access my email address .so I rang Westnet my email provider and they prompted me through down loading chrome which worked for a two days and I didn't need the external keyboard. Then the 13q problem came back so I got rid of chrome and refreshed mozilla and all was good for about a week and now it s starting to play up again with the 13q problem. could it be that I have been advised by Telstra to clear my cookies every day?

It is possible that some of the status keys have the wrong state and Firefox sees them as still pressed.

Try to press all the status keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) a few times to see if that helps to recover from this. If it doesn't help then close and restart Firefox or reboot the computer.

Do you have multiple keyboard layout installed in Windows?

If that is the case then you may accidentally change the keyboard layout by using a specific key sequence. You can check that in the Windows Control Panel.
