How do I get 115.9.0 to autostart with windows? I did have this working, so i know it's possible, but reinstalled at someone's suggestion to cure another problem and it no longer does. I thought I got it to work before by adding it to shell:startup, but this isn't working now and neither is putting it in shell:common startup. It doesn't appear under Settings/Apps/Startup or in Hibit Startup Manager, but is shown as Enabled in Task Manager/Startup. I used to be able to get it to work with a Startup Manager in jv!6 Powertools, but they seem to have removed this option. Glary Utilities Startup Manager lists Thunderbird, but as Disabled, with no option to Enable it.

This is what Windows OS help states to do:

Add an app to run automatically at startup in Windows 10

  1. Select the Start button and scroll to find the app you want to run at startup.
  2. Right-click the app, select More, and then select 'Open file location'. This opens the location where the shortcut to the app is saved. If there isn't an option for Open file location, it means the app can't run at startup.
  3. With the file location open, press the Windows logo key + R, type shell:startup, then select OK. This opens the Startup folder.
  4. Copy and paste the shortcut to the app from the file location to the 'Startup' folder.

Having followed the above comment - In my 'Startup' folder: I have a Thunderbird shortcut icon.

  • Right click on it and select 'Properties'

In my case, I installed 64bit Thunderbird in the 'Program Files (x86)' folder, but you might have the 64 bit version in the default location in the 'Program Files' folder. This is the data it holds on the 'shortcut' tab in my case:

  • Target TYpe: Application
  • Target Location: Mozilla Thunderbird
  • Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe"
  • Start in: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird"
  • Shortcut key: None
  • Run: Normal window
