It just started one day with no alterations from me. I can click and drag files in other windows folders but not in Thunderbird. I have tried in safe mode. I also re-installed Thunderbird and that didn't work either. I also changed the mouse. I have the same email program on another computer and it works fine. I then tried moving the profiles from one computer to the other but that didn't work. It is quite frustrating as it is such a basic operation which speeds up organising my emails. There must be something in the system files that may have changed. Those files are beyond me as I'm not a programmer.

Please try:

in Thunderbird

  • 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information'
  • click on 'Open Folder'

A new window opens showing contents of your 'profile name' folder.

  • Exit Thunderbird now - this is important.

Please locate and delete the following files......

  • folderTree.json
  • panacea.dat
  • session.json
  • xulstore.json

Start Thunderbird.

Thanks for that. I tried it and it didn't work. I have copied the profile to another computer and I could move files normally so I doubt that it is in the profile folder.
