When printing, how do I change the default setting for Print Scale from 100 (by default) to another number (ex 50)?

more options

Hi and thanks for your time. When printing, How can I change the default SCALE setting from 100% to 50% (or whatever)? I often print shipping labels for my online store. My bubble mailers are small so I always have to change the print scale to 50% (instead of Fit to Page Width) It's not a crisis but just annoying. I would like to customize my default setting for print scale to 50 so I don't need to type in "50" every time i use it. Is this possible? I suspect it's buried somewhere behind the scenes in the programmers special access?

Thank you, Dan PS: I am NOT a programmer OR technical minded so please dumb it down for me, if you can.

Normally Firefox remembers what you enter on that setup panel from one print job to the next. Yours isn't remembering?

You could try doing that yourself with the following steps:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste shrink_to_fit and pause while the list is filtered

Firefox should list the current Shrink to fit preference for each of your printers

(3) For the printer that you want to use your scaling instead of shrink to fit, double-click its preference so that it changes from true to false

(4) In the search box in the page, type or paste print_scaling and pause while the list is filtered

Firefox should list the current scaling value for each of your printers, typically 1 for 100%

(5) For the printer that you want to default to 50%, double-click its preference to display an editing field, and change the value to 0.5 then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change.

The next time you go to print to that printer, it should use those values. Success?
