Firefox is corrupted
15 minutes ago I tried to open Firefox and got a pop up asking me to initiate an Update. I initiated the update and my computer shutdown. I restarted the computer and tried to go back to Firefox. The Firefox icon had disappeared and a blank icon replaced it. When I clicked on that new icon I got an error message saying that the program was corrupted and unreadable. What should I do? If I uninstall and reinstall I will probably lose the Bookmarks that it has taken me years to develop. Have somehow picked up a virus?

Hi Jernmim, I'm sorry to hear about this problem.
As the first step, I suggest downloading the full installer and running it. Usually it can find your existing settings and get everything sorted out automatically. Here's the download page:
https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release
If the installer, or Firefox suggests a tune-up or Refresh, try to skip that to minimize disruption and see whether it works.
Firefox stores your personal data in the profile folder and this folder is located in a different location in the hidden "AppData\Roaming" location, so you should keep your bookmarks and other data if you reinstall Firefox.
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>
